New Orleans Guitar Night is a concert series created by Alex D’Onofrio. The event’s goal is to feature talent and build community among guitar enthusiasts and players. Each concert features three incredible ambassadors of the instrument sharing their talent in a manner of their own choosing.
This month’s Features:
John Patton started playing guitar, piano, and French horn when he was 13 years old. John performed with "The 3rd Marine Air Wing Band" (1970-72) as a horn and guitar player (in the big band). After the Marine Corp. he studied music at Citrus College and Calif. Institute of the Arts.
Eric Merchant - Eric Merchant grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland. He began playing guitar in high school and discovered jazz while going to school in Asheville, North Carolina, thanks to his teacher Mike Barnes. He fell in love with the music and later moved to New Orleans to study guitar at the University of New Orleans with Steve Masakowski. After graduating, he began working full-time as a sideman in mostly jazz contexts. Eric is inspired by pianists like Bill Evans and Herbie Hancock, and saxophonists like Sonny Rollins and John Coltrane, as well as the forward thinking modern jazz guitarists working in New York City today. He works hard to emulate these sounds rather than channel the spirit of classic jazz guitar. Eric currently gives guitar lessons and directs one of the guitar ensembles at UNO.
Henry Green - The development of Henry’s musical identity marks a continuation in a long line of musicians who have come of age, musically speaking, in New Orleans: a deep commitment to jazz and studying the language of the masters, and an active role in facilitating the debauchery of New Orleans night life. Henry can be found co-leading his own band Organized Crime and playing with New Orleans mainstays the Brass-a-Holics, Jesse Mcbride Presents the Next Generation, the Big Easy Brawlers, and Lil’ Glenn and Backatown among others.... The Rip-off Show is a monthly comedy show that grabs three comics and pits them against each other in a battle of wits in order to win a bad DVD.
It's a live pop culture gameshow that pulls from a variety of different game styles, from riffing on internet culture and current events, to Price is Right style bidding on weird Etsy items, to writing a Tinder message to a weirdo, to guessing whether a picture is of a Juggalo or a cat. Each comic performs a stand-up set as a brief intermission in the middle.

The Winter Sounds MAXIMUM REALITY tour kickoff show / with Sweater Creep and Skelatin
$5 ADV - $7 DOS - 9pm showtime
The Winter Sounds return with a new album and winter tour to kickoff the Jan. 12, 2018 release of their much anticipated fourth LP, Maximum Reality. Fans enjoyed a sneak preview of the album with a 14 city fall tour and release of the first single off Maximum Reality, “Heartbeats”. The video premiered on Baeble Music in late August of ‘17 and received stellar reviews from publications such as Huffington Post, Essentially Pop, and AXS TV. The song and gorgeous visuals (beautifully shot in the Baltic country of Estonia) have kept the video in rotation on over 140+ cable video channels in North America. Also in August, the band released their soundtrack cut “Broken Bodies” from the Jack White-produced Netflix comedy special, Rory Scovel Tries Stand-up for the First Time. Maximum Reality is fresh take on classic indie rock, sprinkled with 80’s synth pop and folk anthems. The album is slated for release on 1/12/18 and features production by Derek Garten (Jewel, Thunderbitch) and Jason Kingsland (Band of Horses, Deerhunter, Belle & Sebastian). The album was mastered by Colin Leonard (JR JR, MIGOS).... See MoreSee Less

Diet Cig are here to have fun. They’re here to tear you away from the soul-sucking sanctity of your dumpster-fire life and replace it with pop-blessed punk jams about navigating the impending doom of adulthood when all you want is to have ice cream on your birthday.
Alex Luciano (guitar and vocals) and Noah Bowman (drums) have been playing music together ever since Luciano interrupted the set of Bowman's previous band for a lighter. The New York duo have since released the infectious, 2015 ‘Over Easy’ EP that introduced consistent sing-a-long lyrics with thrashing drums and strums that never held back.
‘Swear I’m Good At This’ is the first full-length from the band and accumulates their tenacity for crafting life-affirming, relatable tales with a gutsy heart at their core. Luciano has the ability to write lyrics that are both vulnerable and badass, perfecting a storm of emotive reflection that creates a vision of a sweaty, pumped-up room screaming these lines in unison. Diet Cig make it okay to be the hot mess that you are.
But there’s also a deeper, more powerful fuck-you among the bangers that see Diet Cig grow into an unstoppable and inspiring force. “I’m not being dramatic, I’ve just fucking had it with the things that you say you think that I should be” spits Luciano on “Link in Bio”; “I am bigger than the outside shell of my body and if you touch it without asking then you’ll be sorry” she yells on “Maid Of The Mist”. It’s the sound of a band doing things on their own terms.
Wrapping up ‘Swear I’m Good At This’ on Halloween 2016, exactly two years after they finished recording ‘Over Easy’ on Halloween 2014, Diet Cig’s first, full-length LP validates the experiences of punks who aren’t always accepted first time around; the punks who throw their deuces up at the dominating bro-dudes and ignite the importance of owning everything that you are.... Snail Mail & shame
Saturday, March 17, 2018
New Orleans, LA
7PM Doors | 18+
Snail Mail is the Baltimore based indie rock solo project of 17 year old, Lindsey Jordan. She released a six song EP titled, “Habit,” on DC punks Priests’ Sister Polygon Records in July of 2016. The record features a full band with Shawn Durham on drums and Ryan Vieira on bass.
In their “Best New Track” review for the EPs opening track “Thinning”, Pitchfork describes Jordan as possessing a voice that “sounds like it’s coming from a distance, perfect for a song with lines about wanting to lie face down on the floor for a whole year and the triumph of wasting time”.
In addition to her standout vocal abilities, Jordan is a classically trained guitarist of twelve years and experiments often with various guitar tunings and techniques in order to generate Snail Mail’s unique sound.
Since starting out as school boys, this five-piece band has become notorious for stealing every stage with the outrageous, jaw-dropping performances that have become the Shame signature. Their riotous two-year journey has included gate-crashing a Glastonbury stage, supporting The Fat White Family, Warpaint and Slaves, performances in Europe, Austin Texas, a nomination for best new artists at the prestigious Anchor awards, headlining their own UK tour and releasing the double A-side single, Gold Hole/The Lick and follow-up, Tasteless.
Formed in the playgrounds of South London, Steen met guitarist Sean Coyle-Smith at primary school. They got together with guitarists Josh Finerty and Eddie Green at secondary school. Charlie Forbes –the drummer – was at nursery school with Green. Bonded by their precocious taste in music (one of their first gigs was supporting their hero Mark E Smith of The Fall) during their A level years they were hanging out at Stockwell’ s Queen’ s Head – unofficial home to The Fat White Family.
But to be ‘ Shamed’ you have to see them live. Their appearance at The Great Escape last May so knocked out the editor of French magazine ‘ Les Inrockuptibles’ that he penned a two-page eulogy prompting a wave of Shamemania –a performance at Pitchfork Paris and on Le Grand Journal TV show in the slot usually reserved for the likes of Taylor Swift or Kanye West. A sign of how fast they are steaming their way to the top is this. Last year they gate-crashed Glastonbury (“It was insane, says guitarist Coyle Smith. “We got the directions wrong and ended up walking miles round the perimeter with our instruments before we found the right hole in the fence”) this year they have been invited to play by Billy Bragg on the Leftfield stage....
